CHURCHart exists to encourage artists, congregations, and those involved in the care of churches to foster and engage the arts in the life of the church.

From the simplest carving of a fish used in the early Christian world to the cathedrals of northern Europe, the church has embraced and patronised every art form, in every style. It is difficult to imagine how art would have progressed and developed through the centuries without the encouragement and support of churches.

Whether in small rural parishes or in the great cathedral cities, the church is still part of the continuum of support and patronage of the arts. Art can inspire, explain, celebrate and illuminate the Christian faith and, no matter how humbly, reflect the greater glory of God.
